january 5, 2011 // neckache of the month

It's January. It's the start of a new year.. so I'm starting something new. Each month I'll be highlighting a "Neckache of the Month". I know that sounds bad, but it's actually a really good thing! The neckache I'm talking about is the kind you'd get from looking up to someone! These are people that I admire, look up to and who inspire me creatively.

My "Neck Ache of the Month" for January is Jim Henson.

Jim Henson is awesome for so many reasons. I mean, who would have ever thought that a man and his puppets could influence as many people as Jim Henson has? Seriously, though.. think of a world without Muppets for a minute. Ah! Okay, stop! It's too sad!

What an imagination that man had. He made it okay for adults to enjoy a medium for children - puppets. Genius! Jim Henson, thank you for all that you contributed to this world. Your legacy lives on!

I love this song and it's even better with Muppets.

Muppet babies.. you are adorable.. especially you Rowlf!

Next week, I'll be driving up to Montana to write and illustrate a children's book. I'm giving myself a 30-day deadline. It's something that I've wanted to do since middle school and I have a goal to publish the book by the age of 25. Well, here I am.. two days into my 25th year.. which means it must be time to get this ball rolling! I'll be sure to watch some episodes of The Muppet Show while I'm in Montana to get my creative juices flowing!

  1. This is a neat little feature, I've never seen anything like it before.
Jim Henson is truly a legend. My family (including all the extended) have a special place for him in their hearts. Every year we watch at least one of the many muppet Christmas specials. They're such classic and feel good movies!

Good luck with your book, I know it's not going to be anything less than amazing! :)
