This outfit is a little different because, well, I wore it to the gym. Normally, gym clothes are pretty uninspired, but I've been watching a lot of Audrey Hepburn movies lately and I just had to show off this top. I found it all lonely and calling out to me at a Salvation Army thrift store and I had to take it home. Someone screen printed beautiful Audrey on it. The outfit is also greatly inspired by (okay..I'll admit it) the movie Flashdance. I'm a little ashamed of that fact because the whole off-the-shoulder-hey-look-at-me-I'm-from-the-80's-even-though-I-was-born-when-they-were-half-way-over look has been done so often, but there is something I like about it nonetheless. Also, I haven't been able to listen to much of anything else but "Gloria" by Laura Branigan since I seeing the movie Flashdance for the first time a few months ago. Watch the music video below and you'll understand.
SHIRT // thrifted
WORK-OUT PANTS // handmedown
SHOES // i'm pretty sure that i got them at hot topic.. which is weird for me.. i also saw the same exact pair at a nearby goodwill store a few weeks ago
PIN // thrifted, it says "too cool to do drugs"..which i thought was too cool to pass up
I also wanted to post my gym outfit because today marked the first time that I've been to a gym in a long time..to say the least. I've been on a budget lately - saving up for my big move out to California. I'm going to be driving out west from Connecticut and I could probably buy my weight in Mimolette cheese with the amount of money I'll be spending on gas (you probably don't know this, but I LOVE cheese.. and if you haven't tasted Mimolette, save up your money for about a month and go buy a quarter pound..yeah, it's that expensive and that good).
So, in an effort to save a little I've been avoiding membership fees at the gym. Sadly, all that cheese is catching up to me and I do need to start exercising again (dancing in my room while my parents are out isn't really doing it for my glutes), so my friend and I decided to start attending $10 drop-in classes here and there. Tonight we did Zumba. Oh. My. Goodness. I haven't perspired that much since I running the mile in elementary school. It was intense, but so fun. Tomorrow? Yoga! Don't worry, I won't post a gym outfit again.. at least not until another 80's movie inspires me to do so.
Prepare to be entranced..
You look very chic for someone going to the gym! xo
ReplyDeleteAt least you can legitimately say you are a child of the 80s. I went through a serious 80s phase when I was in high school but I wasn't even conceived in that decade. I love that shirt though. 80s ALWAYS work for the gym.
